2020 Census

The Civic Alliance is helping businesses work toward a complete and accurate count in 2020 because we know how important Census data is for our companies, our communities, and our country.

Why a Complete and
Accurate Census is Critical

The 2020 Decennial Census is a constitutionally mandated once-a-decade count of our nation. It is critical that we achieve a complete and accurate count of everyone in the United States because the results determine how many representatives in Congress each state has -- and how almost 900 billion federal dollars are distributed each year for the next decade.

But it’s not just money and power that make the Census important. Census data is our nation’s foundational dataset -- it is the basis upon which so much other data is contextualized, understood, and activated. It is used in research, algorithms, and infrastructure planning among other things. Businesses rely on quality census data to make critical decisions about their growth and their future. With 2020’s Census being the first to be conducted primarily online, America’s business community will be more important than ever to help get the word out and ensure a complete count.
